We limit the number of courses to five per year to ensure quality guidance tailored to our tasks and clients. Media Safety Advisors (MSAs) are distinct from bodyguards or security guards. MSAs assist editorial managers in ensuring the safety of teams or individuals in the field. It's crucial for MSAs to understand actors, motivations, and the terrain to assess risks accurately. MSAs do not dictate news coverage but propose ways to mitigate risks and manage safety during story gathering. Guardians' Media Safety Advisors team specialises in supporting news crews, investigative journalists, filmmakers, and war photographers in diverse reporting environments. This accredited course covers the following modules: - Introduction to Global Media - Media-related Health & Safety - Communications & Digital Defense - Journey Management & Road Craft - The Filming Process & Responsibilities - Documentation, Terminology, Legal Aspects & Press Freedom - MSA Etiquette & Social Media - Risk Assessment: Weapons, People, Political Factors, RoW (Rules of Engagement) - Equipment, PPE, Safety Standards, Specialist Gear, Editorial Requirements - Emergencies: Abduction, ISOPREP (Isolated Personnel Report), Immediate Actions, Active Attacker Response, Hibernation - Diversity & Inclusion: Sexual Minorities, Gender Focus - Trauma Awareness, Stress Management, Self-Care Best Practices - Awareness of Vulnerable Groups: Immigrants, Refugees - Understanding Sexual Violence Laws & Reporting What You'll Gain: This Level 3 MSA accreditation is designed for individuals seeking to advance their careers by mastering media safety and risk management. Cancellation Policy

Should a student be unable to attend, at the discretion of Guardians course director, they may have the option of moving their attendance for up to 6 months.
